Discussion: Michael Moorcock

The Runestaff is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read. I recommend it to you.

Recently I've been talking to a few people at Flork about religion. All this discussion reminded me of one of my favourite science fiction stories: Michael Moorcock's Behold the Man. It must be one of his earliest books because it won the 1967 Nebula award. Moorcock had an interesting idea. He sent his main character, Karl Glogauer, back in time to meet the historical Jesus. Shocked to learn who Jesus really is, Glogauer decides to make himself into Jesus. The book's portrayal of Jesus might offend some people, but the story stimulated my imagination. To me that's the sign of a good book.

Nearing the end of "Dancers At The End Of Time", my first Moorcock book, and have to say thoroughly enjoying it's surreal and image provoking story line. I'm kind of sad i'm nearly finisahed it.
